1. Who are these classes suitable for?
These classes are designed for beginner dressmakers—people who already have basic sewing machine skills but want to learn how to make garments. If you’re comfortable threading a machine, sewing straight seams, and have done simple projects like cushions, bags, or alterations, this class is for you.
2.What will I learn in the course?
You’ll learn how to:
* Read and understand commercial sewing patterns
* Measure and fit yourself or others
* Cut and prepare fabric for garments
* Sew garments with proper construction techniques
* Use finishing methods like hemming, pressing, and seam finishing
* Make your first wearable piece, such as a skirt, top, or dress
3. Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?
No. Sewing machines are provided, but if you’d prefer to work on your own machine, you’re welcome to bring it.
4. Do I need to bring any tools or materials?
All tools, equipment, and toile (practice) fabrics are provided for the course. You only need to bring your own fabric for your final garment. Pattern recommendations and fabric guidelines will be given early in the course.
5. What kind of project will I make?
Students typically work on a simple garment project, such as a skirt, top, or casual dress. You’ll choose from a selection of beginner-friendly commercial patterns, with guidance provided on selecting and adapting them.
6. How long is the course?
The course usually runs over 4 weeks, with weekly sessions of 2 hours. Each session builds progressively on the last.
7. What if I miss a class?
If you can’t attend a session, please let us know in advance. While we can’t always offer makeup sessions, we’ll help you catch up as much as possible with support and notes.
8. Is the class suitable for teens?
This class is intended for adults, but responsible teens aged 16+ with sewing experience are welcome. If you're unsure, feel free to get in touch and we can discuss suitability.
9. Can I join with a friend or book a private group?
Absolutely! Learning with a friend or group makes the process even more enjoyable. Contact us for group booking options or private workshops.
10. How do I book a spot?
You can book your place via our website or by contacting us directly. Spaces are limited to a maximum of 4 ppl per class , so early registration is encouraged.
