Dressmaking and Sewing - Beginners

Ready to turn your sewing machine skills into wearable fashion? Our Beginner Dressmaking Class sewing classes are designed for those who know the basics of using a sewing machine and are eager to start making their own clothes.
In this course, you’ll move beyond simple stitching and learn the foundations of garment construction. With step-by-step guidance, you'll gain confidence reading patterns, cutting fabric, and assembling your first handmade garment—all while learning essential dressmaking techniques.
What you’ll learn:
- Taking accurate body measurements
- How to read and follow sewing patterns
- Laying out and Cutting fabric correctly and efficiently
- Constructing simple garments (e.g. skirts, tops, or basic dresses)
- Inserting zips, sewing seams, hemming, and other key techniques
By the end of the course, you’ll complete a finished garment and have the skills to continue exploring your own fashion and dressmaking projects at home.
Perfect for: Students who are comfortable using a sewing machine and want to begin making their own clothing with confidence.
Beginners Classes take place on the following days:
- Wednesday 9:30 -12pm & 2pm - 4:30pm & 5:30 - 7:30pm
- Friday 9:30am-12pm & 2pm - 4:30pm
- Saturday 1pm - 5:30pm
- Sunday 9:30am- 4:30pm
